Our Story
Unlike most major jewellery brands, we believe clients deserve to know where and how their pieces are made. Every 1867 piece is designed in Perth, and then crafted by skilled artisans in India using natural, conflict-free diamonds and solid 14k gold. Transparency isn’t optional — it’s integral to 1867.
We sampled production from several international suppliers — including Thailand, Vietnam, and China, where many large jewellery brands manufacture. But the quality wasn’t at the standard we wanted. Some pieces easily broke, some used hollow gold and others didn’t offer the high grade of diamonds that we wanted to offer.
Then an international friend suggested we look to India — the birthplace of diamond artistry. For centuries, its craftsmen have cut, polished, and traded diamonds along the Silk Road, creating jewellery for the royal courts of Persia and Europe.
I already had a close connection to India through my heritage — my mother’s family lived there as British colonials for over a century.
That connection deepened even further when I discovered our now-partner earlier this year: a female owner whose family has been diamond manufacturers for over 50 years.
